Churn Buster alternative with self-serve setup and lower entry price
A Churn Buster alternative is another tool for recovering failed subscription payments. Churn Buster is an established dunning specialist priced by MRR. RevRescue covers the same core job, retries, card updates and dunning messages, and adds unpaid invoice follow-up, CRM hand-off and Leak Scan, with self-serve setup and plans from 99 USD a month.
Same job, different packaging
Churn Buster has focused on failed payment recovery for years, and teams that use it generally value its dunning campaigns, card update pages and the experience behind its default sequences. If you are evaluating alternatives, it is usually not because the category is wrong but because of fit: price at your size, how setup works, which billing systems you use, and whether you need more than card recovery.
RevRescue is built for the same core problem, involuntary churn, and approaches the extras differently. It is fully self-serve, it follows up invoices that are not paid by card, it hands big accounts to people in your CRM, and it looks for revenue that never got billed in the first place.

Where RevRescue goes further than card recovery
- Leak Scan. Checks your billing data for metered usage never invoiced, discounts that should have ended, price rises not applied to older customers, renewals not invoiced, overage fees switched off and seats under-billed. See revenue leakage.
- Invoice follow-up. Annual contracts and net terms invoices get reminders before and after the due date, a payment link and escalation when they age. See accounts receivable automation.
- Human hand-off. Above an MRR threshold you set, a past due account becomes a task for its owner, so a person calls before the account lapses.
- Win-back. Customers whose subscription ended after failed payments get a timed win-back campaign.
- Reporting. Revenue at Risk, Recovered this month and an ROI panel that compares recovered revenue with your plan cost.
Price at different sizes
Both tools price by size rather than by recovered revenue, which keeps your bill predictable. The difference is mostly at the entry level and in billing period. RevRescue plans, monthly and yearly:
| Plan | MRR band | Monthly | Yearly, per month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | Up to 50,000 USD | $99 | $49 |
| Growth | Up to 250,000 USD | $299 | $149 |
| Scale | Up to 1,000,000 USD | $799 | $399 |
| Enterprise | Above 1,000,000 USD | $1,999 | $999 |
How retries are decided in RevRescue
Every failed charge carries a decline code from the card issuer. RevRescue reads it first. Soft declines, such as insufficient funds or a temporary issuer refusal, are retried at moments with better odds, for example in the customer local morning or just after a common payday. Hard declines, such as a lost, stolen or closed card, are never retried, because another attempt will not succeed and repeated attempts count against card network limits. Those customers get a card update link straight away. Payments that need authentication get a link to confirm. The full logic is on smart payment retries, and cards that expire before the next renewal get a reminder in advance.
